Christmas is over,
we have left overs in the frig, for dinner tonight. Yea- a no cook night! The tiny girls are on
quiet time in their room. Steven is
working on our Christmas cards and I am writing my blog with a cup of tea
beside me. This will be a hodge podge
today. It's the first time that I will
have a current post. I wrote a bunch of posts before we went live with the blog
so it's been a long time of catching up.
The weird/good news is I don't feel like I have Parkinson's
the last 2 months or so. Oh I do, at
least if 2 neurologists and a movement specialist and a DATscan are right. I am
now on 3 whole pills of Sinemet a day and I am moving well and energized
enough, considering at the moment we are often on grandparent duty. My
daughter-in-law had major surgery a couple of weeks ago and is recuperating.
Because we have been so busy, I did get the vacation I was
wanting, from thinking about Parkinson's.
That has been a blessing. And
because it was the Christmas season and my hands were working better, I got to
make 2 projects for the girls! I made a
Christmas tree out of felt, with ornaments, out of felt to place on it. And I
finally made 3-year-old Emberlee a Christmas stocking. I wasn't sure that I
would be able to do
it by next year so was very happy to get it done this
year. That is the blessing and trauma of
Parkinson's. We don' t know how fast it will progress and in what way. So each
moment of being able to do things is to be cherished.
Gratitude Journal Dec, 26th, 2021
1. For all these feeling good days.
2. Time spent with my family.
3. For Holly, who came by to drop off wonderful
gifts. A GORGEOUS handmade quilt by
Becky Hanna (I won the raffle! I actually won a raffle! I've never won a raffle before. It is the
most colorful and wonderful quilt. Does
anyone know Becky Hanna? I really want
to thank her for her generous donation to the Arts Council and tell her how
much I love it.) Holly also brought her own home-made chocolate covered pretzel
rods and a hand knitted pot holder. Thank you Holly!
4. I am also grateful for Jerome stopping by to
say Merry Christmas and deliver a surprise gift of local gift certificates from
the Arts Council Board.
5. For my neighbor Kay, coming by, to deliver a
wonderful bag of Christmas cookies from her cookie exchange group. I had not had the time or the energy this
year to make Holiday cookies so it was a double delight.
6. For Talitha who brought by my favorite
chocolate cake from Current Cuisine, to celebrate my birthday and came to Skype
with me and Corrine. I'm sorry Corrine
that you didn't get any cake. Though we had fun teasing you about it.
7. For Andrew Brody and Bethany Quinn and Jill
Becker whose generosity with their time and talents is amazing. They even
offered us their Zoom exercise classes during the Holidays! Thank you!
8. For my dear friends, Ara and Corrine who check
in regularly and sent such loving gifts. Steven especially enjoys the fruit
cake Ara!
Take care all,
I hope your Holidays are wonderful and full of giving and
receiving love.

Footnotes from Corrine
I am grateful for Sinemet and to see how it's helped my arty pal get back to being creative.
Happy Hols
I am thinking next visit we need to get up to some good old jafagirl mischief with some of our pals in town.
Thank you for the thank you Nancy! I get as much out of the Parkinsons dance classes everybody else does! Very sweet group of caring humanoids!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the thank you to my thank you! And now i have hit my 3 time limit for a joke:)
DeleteNancy, this is such good news! Thanks for sharing. And I love the stocking you made! As you know, my home is filled with Nancy Art, all of which I love -- from the Purple Cow to the WYSO gang to the dream lady ("For I Am a Child of the Universe") to "Crazy Dog Playing in the Snow" to a beautiful handmade valentine to last but certainly not least, Grandma Buddha, who is the centerpiece of my altar. (And I've probably forgotten to mention a piece or two.) I love being connected to you through your art...I feel your spirit and see your talent in each and every one of the pieces and it makes me smile. You yourself are a beautiful creation. Love your being.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy! It is always lovely to know who owns my art.
DeleteHappy New Year!
Nancy
