Parkinson’s: Carry On

 Carry On

"Sometimes just getting up and carrying on is brave and magnificent."

Yesterday, I was at our PD dancing class.  I realized how magnificent, I thought everyone was.  We laughed a lot.  Hard not to when Jill, our fearless leader has us doing a cat dance.   (After dinner, that night,  I taught the cat dance to my grandkids. It was a hoot!) She also has us howling and cawing using  our voices in some strange and liberating ways.   At the end of dance class, we checked in with each other.  We talked a bit about Parkinsons and how it was affecting us.  It's different for each of us.  Mostly we cared about each other, how were doing, what we were feeling.

I love quotes.  Like the one at the top, I read it and thought, I can do that! I can get up and carry on.  So I too am brave and magnificent. I like that thought, it inspires me.

I've read a lot of quotes lately.

Quotes are inspirational, funny, historical...

  • “I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles from me!”   Gotta love that chutzpah!

  • “I began to look at everything as a tiny miracle.”

  • “When you are too tired to fight, lie back and float, till you are ready to go at it again.”

What Inspires you to get up and carry on?  I'd love to know.

Where do you get inspiration from? Nature? Amazing People? Your neighbors? Words? Poems?Art?

Photographs? Animals? Stories? Religion? Spirit Guides? The shower?

I found myself wondering: just what does inspiration mean? Nowadays that question means looking it up on my phone's dictionary app:

Inspiration

  • The excitement of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity.

  • A person or thing that moves the intellect or emotions or prompts actions or invention.

  • Something, such as a sudden creative act or idea that is inspired.

  • Divine guidance or influence exerted directly on a human mind or soul.

  • The act of drawing in, especially the inhalation of air into the  lungs.

I hope, in some way, we are all inspired today.

Carry on,

Nancy & the Snark
