The Parkinson's Puzzle Hunt

It has been a wonderful week in some ways.  The Sun has been shinning, I have had some nights of almost decent sleep,  (6 hours one night! Balanced neatly by a night of no sleep.- Sheesh)  Tootling on the Harmonica has been interesting to do.

Yesterday, I got out, got my hair cut at Michael James salon (I looked today, after my shower, like  a bird with a tousled top. I like it!) and then walked home in the beautiful sunshine.

Later, I walked around town, talking to people in the businesses about the upcoming Parkinson's Puzzle Hunt.  I was asking for gift cards and Sponsorships. (During my walk, I heard about  relatives, friends and even clients who have or had Parkinson's)

I had a cheat sheet, that I could glance down on, with some names of some of the business owners and the main words, that it wouldn't look good for me to blank on-like Senior Center, Fundraiser, Sponsorship – logo- donation of $100.00 or more, gift card.

I had tried  to talk to a few shop owners last week and was not prepared and was surprised by how difficult it was for me. I had said I would be glad to canvass the local businesses and thought I wouldn't have any problems doing it. But everything changes and it is not so easy anymore.  I was nervous and feeling stiff, and couldn't remember some basic words.

So this time I was prepared. Well sort of. I had brought a small pad of paper with my cheat list of words and a pen and the cards that  Holly made that had the event title and the date and time on it. Here comes the 'sort of' part, I hadn't thought to bring a bag and I started to get a couple of gift cards and some little art pieces by a Village Artisan artist (thank you Rosie Huart!)  So I asked  Rosie if I could have a bag and I put it all in there. By the time I came home, I was missing one gift card.  Oh well, except for feeling a bit silly, (I will just have to buy a gift card.)  But I did have some great conversations and next time I will add on a bag to my list of what I need to have.

My stop at Village Artisans brought the most generous outpouring from different artists, of tiny, adorable, funny, thoughtful and beautiful art pieces- for treasure for the Hunt.

Holly has come up with some great puzzles- are you ready to pit yourself against the puzzles? Have you got a team?  And even more important what is your team's name? Just how creative can you get? Will you wear costumes?

The Parkinson's Puzzle Hunt, June 17th from 9:30-1 pm is  getting more real all the time!
