Parkinson's: Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays
It's Saturday morning, December 9th, 2023. I am feeling pretty jolly, so I changed my title of this post from yesterday's “Meh,' to this morning's “Happy Holidays!”
Life is always changing. That is a very good thing for me to remember. How about you? Life is always changing, for everyone. It never stays the same. There are good times and then bad times, easy times and then hard times, exciting adventures and then you fall out of bed. But then you might get presents and ice cream!
Today to celebrate these days of excitement and expectation of good things to come (my 70th birthday is December 22nd, and I am looking forward to the ice cream!) I am going to tell you what “My True Rules” are and after you read mine, I hope you will write to me and tell me what your “True Rules” are.
My True Rules
No rule is always right
Keep a balanced life
Moods are contagious- be careful what you spread
All people are equal
All life is important – and deserves respect and care
Be generous
Eat as organic and vegetarian as you can afford to
Don't collect or buy more than you need
Friendships and family need proofs of love
Do not do things that disgust you
Your body is a temple, take care of it
Money comes when you need it
Believe in the goodness of people
Accept mystery in life
Be thankful
Keep learning
Do unto others what you would have them do unto you
Ways of Behaving
Be kind
Express gratitude
Keep your promises
Act as if you are happy
Create every day
Add music to everything
Share what you have
Send cards or postcards
Make friendship dates
Keep lots of space between your car and the next
Tip generously
Smile at everyone and give good hugs
Encourage people
Show up
Send cards and gifts and remember names and birthdays
Don't judge others
Take classes from cradle to grave
My Belief s in life
Everyone has reasons for behaving as they do
Everyone is struggling not just you
These are rules, ways of behaving and beliefs for me, I have learned them through what I have lived through in my life. I don't always follow them:-)
The Ways of Behaving- I often don't live up to them. But they are what I believe are the ways I want to live.
Now it is your turn. What are your True Rules for living your life? Mm
Happy Holidays,
Nancy and the Snark
Footnotes from Corrine
Mine are pretty much the same although I don't try to act happy if I'm not but try instead to look for glimmers.
Try to keep my home a safe loving cozy space
I try daily to embrace glimmers and gratitude.
Learning to leg go with compassion
Setting boundaries
I try to remember that sometimes it is better to not do something. When some people close to me have problems, I want to rush in and try to fix things. Problems are not necessarily bad. We grow a lot from solving our own problems.
